The exotic Mute Swan is a bird of Russian ballets and European fairy tales. This swan frequently has wings over its back when swimming, and its long neck is bent into an S shape. North America is not home to mute swans, despite being widespread and well-known in city parks as well as in bays and lakes in the Pacific Northwest, Great Lakes, Northeast, and Midatlantic. Their hostile demeanour and ravenous appetites can disrupt regional ecosystems, drive out native animals, and even endanger people.

The greatest spot to see these well-known swans is still in the ponds and lakes first introduced to North America to embellish towns and cities. Within their dispersed area, where they have established themselves in the wild, you may also find them on shallow wetlands, lakes, rivers, and estuaries.
