Whooper Swan

Whooper Swan is an extremely large swan breeding in the Arctic, taiga, and steppe and spends the winters in marshy lakes and marshes, frequently in undeveloped areas. When compared to the smaller Bewick's (Whistling) Swan, it differs from the Mute Swan by having a relatively straight neck, a short tail, and a sloping beak. It also has lower-pitched and more bugling cries. When compared to juvenile Bewick's, juveniles of both species are frequently observed in family groups with adults.

Whooper Swan ID

The whooper swan, commonly referred to as the common swan, is a large swan found in the northern hemisphere. It is the European version of the North American trumpeter swan, and it needs a lot of water to survive, especially while it is still growing, because its body weight cannot be supported by its legs for long periods. The whooper swan spends a lot of time swimming, searching the water for food, or consuming plants that grow on the bottom.
